When you read the words ‘Microsoft’ and ‘Training’ we imagine, like most people, you’re not jumping up and down with excitement. Let’s be honest, it’s not the most thrilling of topics to discuss.
So, I’ll cut to the chase. Right now, we’re offering North-West businesses a completely FREE (no, really, it is) 30 minute taster session of ‘Microsoft Teams’. Woohoo, bet you’re excited now! No? OK, we understand, Microsoft Teams probably means very little to you. Most companies either haven’t heard of it, or if they have, don’t fully utilise it.
So, why would you be interested in even reading any more of this blog post? Well before I joined the company I now work for, I’ll admit it, I was an email addict. Most of my working day was spent flicking backwards and forwards to my Outlook ‘Inbox’ opening, filing and responding to emails (most of which didn’t require a response). I’d spend hours searching for a response from a colleague and then forwarding and chasing other responses.
Out of the office for a day? I’d return to 78 unread emails, 52 of which were the rest of the team discussing which sandwich they’d like from Sandra in the van outside the office. As 5pm approached, I’d stress that I still hadn’t ‘cleared my emails’ before it would all start again the next day.
Don’t get me wrong, email can be a useful tool. But it has a lot of power over us. It’s time-consuming and clunky. With so much time and energy spent with your email software, are you the King (or Queen) of your inbox? Or is your Inbox ruling you?
When I moved to inTec, I instantly felt a more relaxed approach to communication and collaboration with colleagues. And that’s because we predominantly use Microsoft Teams instead of standard emails to communicate internally. At first I missed the flurry of constant emails in my Inbox (sad but true). But, as time has gone on I am definitely a (proud!) Teams convert. It’s such a simple but effective way of working (a bit like WhatsApp for business).
Don’t take my word for it, a recent study by Forrester (April 2019) revealed that by empowering employees with Microsoft Teams, businesses can reduce the costs of collaboration, accelerate decision making, and improve the customer and employee experience.
Key findings proved that:
Teams reduces the total number of meetings and their duration;
information workers save 4 hours per week from improved collaboration and information sharing;
information workers save more than 1 hour per week by not having to switch between applications;
and having resources available online in Teams reduces downtime by 14.6%.
And, it all feels a hell of lot less stressful.
Do you know that Teams is included in the majority of Microsoft business licenses so you can start using it today at no extra cost? Do you already have it in your business but don’t feel as though you’re utilising all of the features? Know nothing about it but looking for a more effective way for your team to collaborate on a daily basis? Or, are you a Teams player already and therefore wonder why you’re still reading this?
Our expert technology consultant, Mark Armstrong, is available to present on all of the above points and more. He’d show you everything you need to make Teams a key part of your business. Mark could visit your business premises on a convenient day and time for you and your team (although he’d rather avoid the weekend as even he doesn’t love Teams that much).
